Buddha Jump Over the Wall @ S$15
Other ingredients slowly get revealed ...
This is the MOCK SEA CUCUMBER!
Special Brown Rice @ S$1.20+
When I last dined at Eight Treasures Vegetarian Restaurant, I had a quick glance at their menu, something caught my eye – Buddha Jump Over the Wall, is a Chinese Cuisine delicacy dish! I always feel that the restaurant menu represents the restaurant and is the 2nd or 3rd things that any customers would access after entering the restaurant and that would also have a huge impact upon how the customers order.

Today, I went to the restaurant to try this specialty dish - Vegetarian Version Buddha Jump Over the Wall. Buddha Jump Over the Wall is an non-vegetarian dish which was created during Ming Dynasty that comes with a amusing story.
As we all know that this dish Buddha Jump Over the Wall, the broth calls for ingredients such as quail eggs, bamboo shoots, scallops, sea cucumber, abalone, shark fin, chicken, ham, ginseng, mushrooms etc and is labour intensive in preparing. The photo of this dish on Eight Treasures Vegetarian Restaurant menu look presentable and the pricing for this dish look reasonable ($15/$25/$25). Therefore, I decide to return to try this and order the $15 Buddha Jump Over the Wall which is enough for 2 pax.
There are many ways to present this dish and the list of ingredients used can be as many as 20 or even more. This dish that I ordered consists of broccoli, mock abalone, mock shark’s fin (the one I bought is more yellowish compare to the one used in this restaurant), wolfberries, mushroom, mock sea cucumber, angelica root( I think).
What I loooove most was the mock sea cucumber, the chewy texture was just right and it looks so delectable after soaking up the broth. It paired beautifully with their special brown rice (can you spot the barley in the rice?) ...
Did I just have this dish? Of course not … what else? Make a guess or just wait for next posts : )

The food looks nice to worth visiting. Pls advise how to get the priviledge card. Thank you.
Hi
Call them 6534 7727 for the exact detail to see whether it suit your requirements… and the information is place on their tables in the restaurant …
In fact, unlike some other restaurants, we don’t have to pay a single cent to get the card. Just spend a reasonable amount within a month and can apply the card, also entitle to a Voucher where you get a free dish on your next visit with min S$25 spent. And there are also other benefits, like birthday etc
I have been trying to analyze the usage of this card - even Zhi Char @ neighbour’s coffee shop pricing for stir-fry start from S$8 the cheaper … using this card entitle to 12% off, that is to say the 10% service charge is net off totally. And their menu start from S$6 onwards, gets to have meal served in a cosy environment …
And the location is easy to get to other places like Orchard etc even via public transport … It is good for those who stay Central and South of Singapore or around there …
Cheers : )
