CLOSED ON FRIDAY Chinese & Western Vegetarian Fast Food Eatery with ORGANIC Menu

Ci Hang next to Aljunied MRT (Geylang Veg*n Paradise)
Located in Geylang Vegetarian Food Paradise,  next to Aljunied MRT.

This simple eatery opened since 1994 used to be a popular Western Fast Food for Vegetarians with a taste for comfort 'junk food' has now move toward offering a good selection of healthier Organic Food (the trend).

It serves Organic Set Lunch with Less Oil, Less Salt and no MSG, Alfalfa Sprout Salad, Healthy Cold Drink, Organic Coffee/Tea, Organic Fruit Juice/Oat Drink.

This place is a favourite with Caucasians.
Vegetarian Steak @ 7.5
We order the Vegetarian Steak which is actually Mushroom Steak - a good alternative to real steak if you don't consume beef.  The mash potato is flavourful and recommended.
Taiwan Salted Chicken @ 3.5

Fried Mushroom @ 3.30
For a more healthy meal, just leave out the deep-fried items (a little oily) such as the Taiwan Salted Chicken using mock chicken meat or Fried Mushroom which is like Tempura mushroom but come with chilli sauce instead of usual Tempura dipping sauce.
Organic Wheat Grass Juice @ 1.5
The Organic Wheat Grass Juice is light and fresh but with no added sugar - very natural.

It is SELF-SERVICE and to order, just get the Menu Order Form from the Counter and write down what you want and pass it to the Boss. Quite fun!

IMPORTANT, this eatery CLOSED ON FRIDAY!

Hi Anonymous : )

Pricing, it all depends how to view it from. Normally, in every eateries, there are some high price items and some easy-for-the pocket. For Western Menu - I will go to 8 Treasures Vegetarian Restaurant, it costs about $7+ (with the member card - 10% discount) and in a restaurant environment, rather here.

It seems that Ci Hang is moving towards Organic Stuff and emphasising less on the Western Menu, that portion is very reasonable. Noodle wise - Noodle/ Laksa cost from $3.20 that is ok. Organic Set cost $6-$6.50 almost everywhere, unless at the Hawker Centre Stall in Golden Shoe Car Park - $4-$4.50 with soup!

Like Tom Yam Soup in Ci Hang, it costs $4 whereas in Naive it is only $3.90+ (in a restaurant setting), and their Pineapple Fried rice is $3.80 around Zi Char Price, the same item cost $3.50 at Fortune Centre. And Olive fried rice at Naive is $3.90+.

Again, need to compare many other factors like the ingredients used (not so much big or small portion - like a big bowl of soup without ingredients just plain water with seasoning added compare to a just a small bowl of soup cooked many hours, which is worth it?)

So, sometime, really need to know what to order if on a budget or what are we looking for (quality, tast, convenience or ...), so it will depends on each different individual, right?

Surprising, the eatery still quite busy and have their own regular customers.

Do you know anywhere that is cheap and good and in a simple nice cosy environment? Want to try out.

Thank you for your comments.

Cheers :D

I see that most of the dishes has increased in terms of $0.50 in general. eg, the burger was $2.30 or $2.50 and fries was $2.00 about 2yrs ago or so.

So is like wow the price increase so much to me. and normally when eat there, won't just order 1 dish, normally will have side dish or drink, so the total increase is not just $0.50 or $1. Is the price isn't that cheap, so I only go there once a while but didn't go there at least 2yrs or so. Normally I go for coffee shop or hawker centre which is already not that cheap for certain food like western.

I find that in contrary , restaurant price don't increase that much or still the same as compared to this type of eatry.

Thanks for your recommendation and do continue to post more. enjoy reading and did go to some of the places that you posted.

Hi :D

Guess, material cost goes up! I feel that as I doing marketing daily at wet market and supermarket.

Let's dine more at Restaurant! No cooking, no need to buy gas, pay for water and stocks wide range of seasoning and side ingredients, no need to wash up too! Hooray!

That's why eating out more and cutting down on recipe creation :p

Cheers :D

I tried the vegetarian steak and the steak is quite hard and dry even with the sauce. Is it like that one? I was expecting it to be tender, look tasty but is very disappointing.

Hi Anonymous,

The one that I tried wasn't like this.

So, not too sure what happened. Did you feedback to the boss on the spot, to check what went wrong?

Cheers :)
