Laksa @ $2
Singaporean love food and Singapore Laksa is an ever-popular dish. Finding Vegetarian Laksa is not a big problem at all, as most of the vegetarian stalls do sell Laksa (many different versions).
I would still feel that BEST and CHEAPEST Vegetarian Laksa is Kwan Inn Vegetarian Food (at Geylang) Laksa. ONLY $2, is a real deal. Quite a popular eatery among the vegetarians. I came to know about this laksa at Charity Fairs that Guan Yin Zai frequently support (ha! I am not real vegetarian foodies).
The laksa soup is rich, smooth but not too creamy and yet aromatic (not that strong compare to non-veg Laksa). Maybe, what is missing is the cockle (which can be achieved by marinating canned mushroom with special seasoning) and the aroma can be a little bit stronger or sprinkle with chopped laksa leaves. If the simple meal at a Secondary School Canteen costs $2, so I guess I should not fault too much.
Yong Tau Foo (fresh and a good variety) with Laksa Broth is also available. If you do not fancy Laksa and Yong Tau Foo, there are other month-watering noodles dishes which are value for money too (just check on the pillar for info).
What deserving a special mention is the Economical Rice - 3 Vegetables + Rice is ONLY $2. With Brown Rice it is charge for $2.5. So, this is also one of the reasons why there is always a queue for the rice as well as for the noodle.
Having said so much, travelling a long distance just to get cheapest and tasty food to fill the stomach might not be so economical after all! Unless, you are near Aljunied or Paya Lebar MRT or staying near to Geylang!
But, when I crave for Vegetarian Laksa, I will go there.

Wow, did they renovated?
But I still find their Laksa more tasty & fragnant at those charity fair than at their shop, don't know why.:P
Hi Sunny
I did so, an Indian Vegetarian Lady who is their regular customer, was eating at the same table with me. She told me, they did renovation but prices still the same.
It is still a little messy at some corner, but I really like the colour, the impressive sign board.
Charity fair, you are doing good deeds (proceed go to the charity) by buying from them and other, your mood and vibe is different therefore the bowl of noodle will be very tasty for sure because of special ingredient added - the positive energy you created.
Cheers :)
The gravy is has reverted to be consistent nowadays. I have been a frequent patron for years and the price still remain at $2.00. Bless the lady owner for her generosity. Sometimes I will bring my own bread to dip into the gravy.
