We were at Bishan and feeling hungry. Knowing that Pastamania is Vegetarian Friendly, without second thought we went there, even we know there is a Vegetarian Stall just above the Bishan Bus Interchange.
I was very excited when I saw a new addition – Cheesy Crumble @ S$5.90 on the Vegetarian Section of the Menu and could not wait to try it.
The dish arrived and looks presentable. I sprinkle some chilli on it and took a picture. Happily I put the penne into my mouth, but it does not taste good. The crumble cheese is too overwhelming, salty and the pasta is too dry. In the end, I could not continue eating this dish and feel a little funny and lost my appetite totally. I think I still prefer Al Funghi.
But, the staffs here are friendly and cheerful.

I happened to chance upon your blog and I really salute you for blogging and introducing new places for vegetarians!
Thanks so much!
I just want to ask you if the vegetarian store at Jurong Point is still operating?
A recommendation on non-vegetarian restaurant is the Cafe Cartel outlet at Tampines Mall.
My last visit they served nice mushroom pasta that you could change the original menu of cream sauce to tomato sauce without onion & garlic for those with pure vegetarian diets.
Good portion & tasty in my opinion.
Although there had been complaints of service for the chain, I find the service at the Tampines Mall branch still reasonable...
Hi Anonymous,
Thank you so much :)
I haven't been to Jurong for very long already, not too sure.
Other vegetarian food bloggers might be able to answer your question. As I not totally in vegetarian food review.
Have a great day :)
Cheers :)
Hi Sunny,
Thanks for the recommendation :) Will give it a try if I go there.
Have a lovely day.
Cheers : )
Hi,
i heard the cheese served in Pastamania is not vegetarian. How true is that? Just curious cus i have a friend who is a vegetarian.
Hi curious-WOW,
Maybe this link will give you some idea - http://www.pastamania.com.sg/footer_faq.php
From the FAQ question regarding cheese,I would think they understand rennet issue faced by Vegetarian.
Thanks :)
Cheers
Hi, just to check with you, do you eat garlic and onions?
Hi,
I do eat garlic and onion and shallot. For some, they don't.
Cheers :)
Cheese crumble is niceee ^^ it must b ur unlucky day at the wrong outlet.. I had it a few times at tampines mall n once at Far East Plaza.. It's YUMMY and not dry.. However creamy base must go with penne.. U go with Spag or linguine sure sticky n dry.. As for the cheese, it is definitely vegetarian.. E ones who say it's not, they must be those who can't take dairy products like eggs n milk.. ^~^
Hi Yvonne,
Maybe you are right :) Wrong day and wrong combination. Thanks :)
Cheers :)
hi, chanced upon your blog. Anyway, just thought I shld let you know, the cheese in the cheesy crumble dish is not vegetarian. It has cow rennet. Fortunately after much feedback from vegetarians who realised, pastamania has already removed it from their vegetarian menu.
