A revisit to Yi Xin Vegetarian at Chinatown, Temple Street.
It’s just beside Dragon Gate Vegetarian which took over their old
premises. They are an eatery serving vegetarian economic rice with veg*nised Malaysian
dishes. There are also daily desserts and 10 other noodle/salad dishes for
diners who do not want to go for rice-based meals. Usually quite crowded.
I was there for their Vegetarian Assam Laska ($4.5) which is
quite a popular dish. I love the deep
fried seaweed very much – unique. Serving is big. The broth used is not too
spicy too nor sour, tasty.
For me, I would love to have peppermint and sliced
red chilli instead of green leafy vegetables and cabbages which don’t seem to
pair well with this traditional Assam Laksa dish.
